Select Trees Gets Top Business Award

The Oconee County Chamber of Commerce recently named Select Trees Inc. as the Larry Risse Agri-Business of the Year.

The chamber presented the award Jan. 28 at the business association’s annual banquet.

Select Trees, founded in 1985, operates as a wholesale tree nursery that grows and sells sustainable shade trees. The business ownership includes partners Brent Marable, Chris Hughes, Matt Nielson, Corey Browning and Mike Turner.

Select Trees and its nonprofit arm, the Select Sustainable Tree Trust, have donated or significantly discounted hundreds of trees to projects throughout the county, including the City of Watkinsville, Oconee County Parks and Recreation, Oconee County Sheriff’s Department and various public schools throughout the county.
