The Athens Clarke Heritage Foundation has named Select Trees and the University of Georgia as the the recipient of a 2010 Athens-Clarke Heritage Foundation Preservation Award. The Foundation’s
award program has been recognizing Athenians for excellence in historic preservation
since it was founded in 1967.

The mission of ACHF is to be a proactive force in developing community-wide
understanding of the value of historic buildings, neighborhoods, and heritage.

The ACHF vision is to become the leading advocate for the importance of
historic preservation to the future of Athens.

ACHF recognized Select Trees and UGA for their efforts to “re-green” the University of Georgia campus with select sustainable shade trees as part of a $1 million donation from Select Trees. With the donation, the Select Sustainable Tree Trust will provide more than 300 sustainable shade trees from Select Trees—most ranging in size from 4 to 6 inches in trunk diameter and 15-25 feet tall—each year to the university, which is known for its historic tree canopy and arboretum on its main campus in the heart of Athens, over the next ten years.
